Yesterday Simeon Sampson told the Chief Magistrate that four policemen who shook down a Chinese grocer had no case to answer. Today, the Chief Magistrate replied that they do have to answer to charges of robbery.

But the charge of aggravated assault against Goldburn Adolphus was dismissed. In his statement Adolphus had told the court that he pulled off a table's foot and attacked the police officers. Lord continued by saying that since the officers say they were acting in the execution of their duty they have a case to answer to charges of robbery and so they will have to put up a defense.

Ortega gave a evidence under oath while the three others gave unsworn statements from the dock. In his statement Ortega told the court hat he went into Chow's store when he suspected him to be selling illegal lottery. He says he found 2 lottery books with white paper and carbon. He said the papers had nothing written on them and that chow told Ortega that he was robbing him. He continued denying that he took $100 in cash from the establishment. The case was adjourned until October 27th.
