The all clear for Belize was declared at 7:00 this morning. And while Wilma skirted Belize's coast, Corozal and San Pedro towns did experience gusts of tropical storm force winds.

Speaking with NEMO Coordinator out in San Pedro James Jan Mohammed today he told us that the worst is now over and the island of San Pedro is beginning to return to normal. Waves are calming down inside the reef while there are still some swells outside. He says that the town sustained only minor damage

in particular to some of the older

piers. Other than that and debris that accumulated on the beach the San Pedro was mostly spared. We want to thank the San Pedro Sun for providing us with those pictures.

As for Caye Caulker, the strong waves split at least one boat in two. These pictures of the battered boat crashing against the pier were taken from in front of Tropical Paradise near the cemetery. The central part of the village was also flooded when the waves rushed in. Because of the buildup on the beach that

would not let the water flow back in, today residents had to dig ditches to let the water run back into the sea. In total about 6 piers were destroyed. Today residents embarked on an aggressive clean up and the island is reported in much better condition this evening. We want to thank Ivan Reyes and Elle McRae for those photographs.
