Police believe that a Corozal man killed himself in the street yesterday. At about 6:30, the report of a single shot was heard on 5th Avenue which is in the center of the town. Those who rushed to see what had happened found 28 year old Nino Carlo Moreno on the ground, apparently dead. Police are reporting that, he walked out to the street, put his licensed nine millimeter gun to his temple and shot himself. The main piece of evidence police point to is the pistol, loaded with 11 live rounds, which was found next to his body and a single expended shell.
And while that's the police story, media reports out of Orange Walk say that Moreno's family is claiming that it was not suicide, but an execution. Forensic tests should provide a final answer.
