Police have charged three men for terrorizing the Lewis brothers on Tuesday of last week; they tied up and beating Levan Lewis and shot Anthony Lewis to the back of the head, almost killing him. There aren't many who come back from that kind of injury, but today Lewis is recovering at the KHMH and we got to speak to him as he related what happened on the night of March 21.

Alfonso Noble Reporting,
10 days after receiving a shotgun blast to the back of the head Anthony "Notorious Babb" Lewis is well enough to move, speak and thank the stars for his speedy recovery.

Anthony Lewis,
"I am lucky enough that they found me living because where I was, I was in a pool of water and I could have drowned."

Alfonso Noble,
Do you know who these men are that attacked you?

Anthony Lewis,
"They are some youths from right up 8 miles."

Alfonso Noble,
You know why they attacked you?

Anthony Lewis,
"I don't know why they came and attacked me. I just remember four masked men came and burst in on us, duct tape me up and took me to the bush, shoot me, and left me there to dead. I feel good I that I survived, at least I could recoup back."

Alfonso Noble,
So you ready to go home?

Anthony Lewis,
"Yes."

And while Babb says he's ready to go home, one man who's largely responsible for his recovery is neurosurgeon Joel Cervantes.

Dr. Joel Cervantes,
"We didn't know if we could have saved this man, we thought he was going to die. As you can note here on the CT scan, you can see here whereby these little fragments that are in here are bones that is encrusted in there due to

the velocity of the bullet and the formation of a blood clot that can be seen there is something a little less white than the rest of the tissue. It is something basically very big causing a big compression against the water canals up here within the brain and you can see on the other levels much more of the blood clot running through the brain as such and the presence of a bullet that can be seen here along with quite a good quantity of brain swelling that can be seen in the vicinity. We can also see the presence of a bullet fragment that is there and also little minute fragments of bone.

There was a massive bleed. Approximately we drained a blood clot, a hematoma of approximately forty cubic centimeters. In fact when we went I was a little bit surprised because the hematoma apparently was a little bigger than we had actually thought at the beginning. The other thing is that it had severed a very vital draining and we had to work on that to stop the bleeding so it was a massive bleed that he had."

Looking at CAT scans done today Cervantes says his patient is well enough to go home.

Dr. Joel Cervantes,
"From a clinical standpoint, he is not perfect but he is in pretty good condition enough to be discharged today. The bullet fragment as such has migrated to the outer part basically here of the bone between the bone that is open, which you can see here, and you can still see the presence of bone fragments in there which to be honest with you was a bit nonsensical to try to go in and take them out. What we went for was not bone fragments nor also the fragments of bullets, we went for the blood clot which was threatening his life. Because there is a destruction of brain tissue in this region, we have to really note if the patient is going to have a very definite neurological deficit as time goes and this can be very basically with respect to sight because in the posterior part here, at the back, it has to do a little bit with the quality of our visual fields, how we see certain things. At present we really don't have knowledge of that but it is a bit soon and also we want the patient to go home and be with his family members and then come back to the outpatient clinic to see how he is continuing with his evaluation."

Lewis is expected to be discharged from the KHMH.
