In the second fatality, sometime around 8:30 on Saturday night police visited an area between miles 8 and 9 on the Western Highway where they found this gold Toyota car off the highway with extensive damages. Beside the car police found a Hispanic man identified as 37-year-old Honduran national Mario Portillo. He was dead.

Investigations by police have determined that 21-year-old Honduran Rose Aguilar was driving the vehicle from Hattieville toward Belize City when she lost control of the vehicle. It slid off the highway overturning several times before landing back on its wheels. Portillo who was traveling in the vehicle was thrown out as a result and he died on the spot after receiving severe head and body injuries. For her part Aguilar received injuries to her left hand and back.

Aguilar was treated and released into police who today took her to Magistrate's Court where she was formally arraigned on charges of manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct and driving without due care and attention. She was offered bail in the sum of $5,000 plus one surety in the same amount. She is to reappear on May 10th.
