He's coming off a big victory as the ground commander in Gaspar Vega's successful bid to become UDP First Deputy and today "Boots" Martinez had another big victory, this one in Magistrate's Court. On April 12 Anthony "Boots" Martinez was charged with assaulting an officer of the court in the name of Gabriel Casey after he was served with a committal warrant. Well last week boots' attorney and his party boss, Senior Counsel Dean Barrow made a no case submission. Today Magistrate Dorothy Flowers upheld the submission. That's the end of the case and Boots says he feels vindicated.

Hon. Anthony "Boots" Martinez, Vindicated
"My attorney, Senior Counsel Dean Barrow, made a no case submission for me last week on the grounds that Mr. Casey, the committal warrant was issued by Magistrate Usher who assigned that committal warrant to a police and Mr. Casey is not a police. Again you couldn't assault a bailiff in the execution of his duties if he doesn't have any right to serve and that was my point from the start. At no time did Casey serve me with a committal warrant."

Alfonso Noble,
Does this at all vindicate you? Does this make you feel better that you were right all along?

Hon. Anthony "Boots" Martinez,
"Well sure I am a citizen and I am a good citizen of this country and it is regrettable that for reasons that I don't understand, the behavior of Mr. Casey was not such. In court he said he knows me and so he should have done the right thing and served me with the summons. It is just good to know that justice prevailed. I knew that I wasn't quarreling about the incident in regards to the committal warrant. I never had any hostility in regards to even the police who presented the committal warrant but again you can't just jump over people physically and expect to get away with it. Like I what I said I chose to let it go through to the court. I said I was going to report it to the police but that is over. It is minor and incidental like anything else."
