It's been a rough few months, but the KHMH is once again providing neurosurgeon. A Cuban neurosurgeon is offering neurosurgical care to Belizean patients at the KHMH. 51-year-old Dr. Abigail Matos arrived in the country on May 19th. A release from the Cuban Embassy states that Matos has already performed a surgery in Belize and the patient is recovering. Matos will form part of the Cuban Medical Brigade of 114 volunteer doctors nurses and health technicians that are presently working in the country. Dr. Matos has 25 years of experience in the medical field, and last worked in Santiago, Cuba's second largest city.
