Police are reporting a major weekend heist at the credit union in Sarteneja Village. Sometime between last night and this morning, what is believed to be a group of burglars used the cover of a rain and thunderstorm to clean out the St. Francis Xavier Credit Union.

In the noise of the storm, they ripped off the burglar bars, got into the office and then plied open the iron chest. That yielded $51,000 in Belizean and American currency. Police believe that a pair of villagers did it, and are looking for two suspects whose names have not been released.
