Cayo police have arrested four youths for the Christmas Eve murder of 18-year-old Chris Rosales in San Ignacio. Police say the ringleader was a 16 year old who has been charged with murder. We can't tell you his name because he is a minor but police believe he inflicted the fatal stabs to Rosales.
Shortly after midnight Rosales and his friends Kennylee Gonzalez, Justin Rodriquez, and Prince Lockwood were outside a popular nightclub in San Ignacio when they were attacked. Rosales was cornered and stabbed in his back, his chest, and stomach. He later died while Gonzalez and Rodriquez were also injured. Gonzalez still remains hospitalized.
The 16 year old along with 21-year-old Kevin Diaz have both been charged for the attempted murder of Gonzalez. That 16 year old along with Diaz and 21-year-old Edwin Duran and 18-year-old Darren Lanza have been jointly charged for conspiracy to commit murder. Police believe the motive is a feud between youths in Santa Elena and San Ignacio.
And in a correction to a story we aired on Friday night, on Thursday a jury said Henry Baptist was not guilty on one count of attempted murder and they couldn't make up their minds on the second count. Tonight Baptist is however still remanded at the Hattieville because he has an unrelated murder charge pending. The jury unanimously acquitted Baptist of the attempted murder of Kevin Diaz.
