Lutchman Sooknandan is New DPP

We reported it a week ago and government today announced that Lutchman Sooknandan has been appointed Director of Public Prosecutions. A release states that the Governor General has appointed Sooknandan as the new Director of Public Prosecutions. He is to replace Kirk Anderson whose often stormy tenure lasted from 2002 until Thursday of last week.

We spoke with Sooknandan this morning and he told us that while the announcement has been made he is yet to sign a contract specifying the terms and conditions of his tenure as DPP.
