A man is tonight in jail after police charged him for rape. On Monday night a 39 year old woman of Crooked Tree Village reported to police that sometime around 6 on that evening she was in the area of the community center of Crooked Tree when she was approached by a man identified as 38 year old Arthur Wade. She claims that he tried to persuade her to walk through a nearby shortcut with him but she refused. He kept insisting and when she tried to get away from him she fell to the ground and he raped her.
Police arrested Arthur Wade. He was being held at the police station in Crooked Tree when he removed 4 bars from the cell in which he was placed and escaped. That escape was short lived however as police caught up with him on Tuesday morning at around 6:30. Today he appeared in Magistrate's Court where he was charged for rape, damage to property and escape. He was offered $5,000 bail but he was not released as he has outstanding monies which he owes the court. With that he was remanded to custody until March 2nd.
