Belize has officially taken over presidency of SICA - the Central American Integration System. Belize will preside over SICA for the next six months during which time our Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host about 40 meetings. The first of those meetings was held today for the visit of SICA's Secretary General Anibal Quinonez. The Secretary General led a delegation of SICA officials who over the next two days will meet with a cross section of government officials - including Prime Minister Said Musa. This evening they took a break from the meeting and spoke to the media. Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Amalia Mai told us what will be Belize's priority during the next six months while SICA Representative Edgard Chamorro spoke of why Belize has the best seat in the house.

"For Belize apart from the areas that I said we will continue to work with SICA, one of the big things for Belize is linking even further and deepening the relations between CARICOM and SICA."

The visit concludes tomorrow. SICA's head office is located in Salvador.
