6-Year-Old Abuse Victim Contracted Syphilis

There is a very disturbing report of child abuse coming out of Orange Walk tonight. A six-year-old boy was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital on Thursday with symptoms of what appears to be syphilis which is a sexually transmitted disease.

A medical officer examined him and found that the child had been repeatedly sexually abused. The child told police counselors that his uncle was responsible.

The uncle who is from Orange Walk Town has not been found. Police have been looking for him since morning, and continue at this hour. They believe he is on the run.
