And while Uncle Sam must wait for the Seawell's, they've already gotten one of their associates. On Saturday, 30-year-old Christopher Lewis known locally as Carl Meighan was put on a Continental Airlines flight for the U.S. where he is to stand trial with the Sewell brothers.
Police from the Criminal Intelligence Unit picked him up on Friday in Belmopan. But because he is a U.S. citizen, no extradition hearings were required and he was sent immediately.
Lewis came to Belize from the United States with the Sewells in 1994 and was living in Belmopan. The Sewells and he are wanted for the laundering of drug proceeds, and importation of a controlled substance into the United States.
