The Belizean wanted by the U.S. to face drug trafficking charges, Dwayne Sewell (Seawell) was reported to be in Miami, but today the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that he is still in Jamaica.

The Jamaican authorities have issued an expulsion order for him, and now the Belizean government is asking the U.S. government to allow him safe transit through Miami and back to Belize. Once back in Belize, he would then face extradition charges.

That safe transit is provided for in the Belize - USA Extradition Treaty but the U.S. is reportedly balking at the request to ship him back here, especially considering recent failures with extradition hearings. But something will have to be worked out soon as the Jamaicans are eager to get rid of him after the expulsion order was issued in that country 8 days ago.

Dwayne's brother Mark Sewell is presently being held pending extradition hearings.
