There have been a spate of shootings across the city. A 32-year-old man was shot on the shoulder on Sunday. Eric Franklin told police that at 11 on Sunday night, he was near the Pickstock hutments when a man opened fire indiscriminately on a group hanging out in the area. Franklin was the only one shot and he received an injury to the right side of the shoulder.
Police have since arrested and charged 19-year-old St. John's College Extension Student Leon Garcia with attempted murder use of deadly means of harm and wounding. He appeared in Magistrate's Court number 2 where he was remanded to custody until April 3rd.
And while Franklin was shot on Sunday, last night a woman was also shot, this time for a cellular phone! 30-year-old Maria Pech told police that around 8:30 last night she was hanging out clothes in her yard on Cairo Street when a man hopped over her fence.
He pointed a gun at her and demanded money. She handed over a Razr cell phone but he still fired two shots at her hitting her on the right leg and left hip. She is at the KHMH recovering.
