A police constable accused of killing a mental patient is once again a free man. In September of 2005 constable Jesus Marroquin shot and killed Egbert Gordon Jr. inside a house in the Los Lagos Community.

Marroquin says it was in self-defense as a deranged Gordon had barricaded himself inside a home he had burglarized. But Gordon's family called it murder and they had to go to the Chief Justice last year to force the Police Department to charge Constable Marroquin for murder. The police did but this week the Director of Public Prosecutions withdrew the charge because of a lack of evidence. Police claim that Gordon was armed with a gun and that he was shot in self-defense.
