Police Constable Leroy Kerr is out on bail but tonight the police investigation into his alleged misappropriation of $175,000 worth of government fuel continues.
As part of the support staff to former Officer Commanding Eastern Division, Assistant Commissioner Crispin Jeffries, Kerr was given fuel requisition orders which had been signed and authorized by Jeffries for police use. Investigation shows that he would then fraudulently pass these on to private individuals.
But new information to 7NEWS suggests that Kerr was so brazen as to also go to the gas station himself and, in collusion with employees there, convert requisition orders to cash.
Again, that's only part of the investigation as police try to track down a large paper trail. They are also trying to figure out what internal controls broke down that allowed the Spike in consumption spread out over 6 months to go un-noticed within the department or at the Ministry of Finance.
