When 34-year-old Sandy Alamilla was found dead in a San Pedro boatyard on Sunday, at first police said it was a case of sudden death, but tonight they are saying that it's a homicide. Alamilla's body was found near the beach on Sunday morning at 7:30. Police say he had what appeared to be a stab wound to the neck but his father Orlando Alamilla says he saw much more than that. He today told us about his son's death and his sometimes difficult life.
Orlando Alamilla, Father of Deceased
"He looked like he got a cut, I don't know if it is a stab. I know he has bruises blah blah blah, I saw a big dig in his head here, and I think that give him the blowout."
Jules Vasquez,
So what do you think happened to your son, having seen him?
Orlando Alamilla,
"To be truthful and to be honest, that is the life he chose. I couldn't stop him, I couldn't help it. The policemen did what they could, I did what I could."
Jules Vasquez,
Was he someone that always was in fights and misunderstandings?
Orlando Alamilla,
"Well he is 34. From I've known him he drinks, makes his money and never gets into problems so not every kid is good. Let's be honest, I can't holler my kid is good. I know some people, their kids are stealing and they are, 'take my baby out of the jail,' and they know their kids are stealing. What will happen to us sooner or later? Yes it is my son, I feel for it but if we continue to live like that, what will this end up being. What can I do? The thing is that that is the life he chose to live. The thing is I tried to give him or them what I didn't get in life. He didn't appreciate it.
Right now to tell you the truth, its feel good killing me, not feel bad because yes it is my son, he wasn't around me like how, because his son has lived at my house from the day he was born, so I always looked at it that that is the replacement to make the mistake I made with him, I won't make it with his son. And I just hope people would watch...[sobbing]. This thing they are bringing out about child abuse, in our days yes, our grandpa used to lash us but we were brought up, we weren't dragged up. We wanted to give our pickney what we didn't get and we can't handle it. We don't want to accept that, we parents..."
Sandy Alamilla was the father of 5 children. A post mortem today confirmed that he bled to death as the result of a stab wound to the neck. One of his co-workers has reportedly been detained for questioning.
