A resident of this home on Freedom Street says a bad crowd in the neighborhood has been terrorizing him. And 35-year-old Roy Latchman says it's one of that same bad Set that tried to set his house on fire last night.
At about ten, Latchman was in his bedroom when he heard a noise at his front door. He looked out the sliding glass door and saw a young man that he knows from the area pouring a canister of kerosene unto his front verandah and then trying to light it. He shouted at the young man, who ran down the stairs and into the night.
He called the police and they found a plastic bottle with kerosene, and a pair of slippers. They have detained a 20 year old who lives down the street pending charges.
Latchman told us that he's had a turbulent history with the young men in the neighborhood.
