Constable Loses Eye in O/W Bar Brawl

Two policemen were left in the hospital after coming out on the losing end of a violent bar brawl in Orange Walk Town. It happened on Aurora Street, right behind the Shell One Stop Gas Station when off duty constables Trevor Lopez and John Ordonez saw 5 men beating down Rene Caceres. They tried to intervene but the 5 fighters turned on them.

Using a broken pint, one of the men stabbed, Lopez in the left eye and shoulder, while Ordonez was stabbed in the head.

Lopez was treated and released while Ordonez remains hospitalized in a guarded condition. Three men have been detained for and police say they probably didn't know that their victims were police officers.
