And four hours before that fatality on the Northern Highway, there was a serious, but non-fatal collision on the Western Highway. At 8:00 o'clock, policeman Brenton Pou Longsworth was eastbound in a Geo Prizm when he collided with a Mazda Protege driven by Kevin Gongora. Longsworth was along with three women and a two-year-old child, while Gongora was with his 28-year-old wife.
It was a violent collision, but the adults sustained only minor injury, while the infant's injuries were more serious, but are not considered life threatening.
