Yesterday should have been a quiet day at the farm for 54-year-old St. Margaret's villager Isabel Jesus Sandoval. But he was ambushed on his way to that farm. Sandoval was being driven by his son in law, Victor Vasquez and was accompanied by his 23-year-old wife and two workers.

They were about to enter the farm which is three miles away from St. Margaret's when they found a log across the road. The two workers removed the log, and they were about to drive ahead, when a gunshot came from the bushes. It hit Sandoval, and more shots were being fired.

That's when Vasquez turned the truck around, managed to escape without being hit again, and sped to the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan. But it was too late for Sandoval; he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police are investigating, but have not made any arrests.
