And as we said at the top of the newscast, a part of that meeting was about the two men who were injured in a broad daylight shooting yesterday in Belize City. Tonight we learn that one of them might never walk again.

As we reported, 34-year-old Steven “Cat” Arnold and 31-year-old Ian “Horse” Reid were sitting in a Jeep Cherokee parked on Dean Street yesterday afternoon close to 4 when a gunman on a bike approached and fired one shot. It hit “Horse” Reid in the left side of the neck and exited the right side. That bullet, police say, hit “Cat” Arnold in the left bicep and left side of the abdomen. “Cat” Arnold and Ian “Horse” Reid are still in the KHMH recovering. Reid is in a critical condition and information from his family members are that he might never walk again.

And as we mentioned, both men are hospitalized and when some of their friends went to the KHMH today to visit them, they were rounded up by police. Raymond Gentle was one of those friends.

Raymond Gentle,
“We went to the hospital and the security guard told us that the amount of us, we would have two at a time to go in and get a visit. So we obeyed their orders at the hospital, went in two by two, to go and see our friend. From there the rest of we went upstairs to see the next man who got shot and after that when we came from our visit, by the time we reached outside to go to our vehicle, about four or five police vehicles were there sticking us up with big guns.”

Jules Vasquez,
So you consider that harassment?

Raymond Gentle,
“I called that harassment because my friend got shot in his throat. We went there peaceful because we want to see our friend. If he is to dead, we want to see him before he dies. That is one of the reasons why we went there in a crowd. We didn’t go there violently. So all I explain to a policeman, Mr. Usher is that I have an amount of money in my pocket and if he can please take me to the Inspector to go and leave my money and when I asked he said what does my money have to do with him and he punched me in my face and from there another policeman came and took me to the Inspector for me to my money and locked me down.”

Police say that while “Cat” Arnold is able to talk, he is not cooperating with the investigation.
