One week ago we were reporting on one of the worst traffic accidents in recent years. It was on Thursday that a National Transport Bus slammed into a cargo truck, leaving 6 dead and 18 injured. But while the statistics are staggering – what lies behind those figures? Well, try Duncan Smith; he couldn’t tell us his story today because of his difficulty breathing, we do have another story. 61-year-old Cordelia Lamb was a Belmopan resident killed in the accident. And like all the dead and injured, she is more then a statistic; Here her story - which we’ve put together with the help of Plus TV in Belmopan.

Jules Vasquez Reporting,
You may know her from this Social Security ad but Cordelia Lamb was also a pillar of her community. She was a mother.

Erikson Lamb, Son
“My mom never ever gave up on trying whatever it is she wanted accomplish, no matter how much obstacles she met, no matter how many times she was told it might not work or no. Her thing was that all they could say was no and you can just moved on and she had that passion in pretty much everything that she did, including raising us as kids in the house.”

And she was also a friend.

Anita Arnold, Friend
“One of the things that I am going to miss about her, I always think about her as a modern day Barnabas, an encourager. She was always encouraging and whenever my birthday or anyone’s birthday, she would be the only person, not the only person, but she always remembered everybody’s birthday. Soon in the morning of your birthday, when you her that phone ringing you will know that’s Cordelia.”

But more than just reaching out in her Belmopan community, she was a pastor known for her community outreach in St. Mathew’s Village.

Glenda Robinson, Friend
“Some of the people, they look back and say they remember Miss Lamb in that red car driving. When the road was muddy she put on her rubber boots and go out there and really reach out to them so I guess she will be gravely missed in St. Mathews.”

Police have still not closed their investigation into the accident and have not said which vehicle caused it.
