West Landivar residents today hit a home run in their fight to stop David Gegg from building a 56 boat marina in their backyard. The Minister of Natural Resources Florencio Marin today officially declared “Dolphin Park” – a park. It was done through a statutory instrument which declared parcel 3566, block 16 in the Caribbean Shores area a national park under the National Lands Act.
A release from the Ministry says, “Dolphin Park will remain protected and preserved for its scenic values, national significance, and public benefits.”
Earlier this year West Landivar residents, under the West Landivar Action Committee banner, got an injunction blocking Gegg from cutting down the mangroves in the area. Gegg was cutting the mangroves on the strength of a permit from the Forestry Department.
