On Thursday, Brandon Taylor was accused of shooting a police patrol pickup and on Friday 19 year old Kyle Murillo was accused of shooting at police. Two unrelated events but similar m.o.'s that show a disquieting lack of respect for the law.
On Friday at 10:30, members of a police mobile patrol in the Port Loyola area heard three shots in the area of Gill Street. They responded immediately to the junction of Central American and Jane Usher Boulevards where they saw 19-year-old Kyle Murillo riding away with what appeared to be a firearm in his hand.
He rode into an open area, left his bike and continued on foot. Police say that when they put their lights on him, he fired at them. They returned fire, but Murillo escaped into the night.
But he wouldn't be free for long. By Saturday the resident of Louise Bevans Street had been arrested. He was arraigned this morning on two counts of aggravated assault and remanded into custody.
