In February of this year, he tried to rob former Prison Superintendent Bernard Adolphus with an Uzi, but Herman Mejia was stopped cold. Adolphus stuglled for the gun and manages to secure over $7,000 he was carrying. Police caught Mejia and today he was found guilty of armed robbery in Magistrate’s Court. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison.
Adolphus testified that Mejia was the man who accosted him. In a statement from the dock Eligio denied his involvement; he said he was in another area at the time. The judge didn’t buy it and his 5 year sentence is to run concurrently to any other he is currently serving.
