She showed them to students at Palotti in 2001 but now Marion Jones has returned the three gold and two bronze medals she earned at the Sydney Olympic games. But it maybe as much an embarrassment for the International Olympic Committee as it is to Marion.

For example in the 100 meters, precedent suggests that the gold would now go to 100m silver medallist, Ekaterina Thanou. But that Greek athlete has served a two-year doping ban for missing three tests within 17 days before the Athens Olympics, not exactly gold medal material. If she is snubbed would mean that the gold would then go to third place finisher, Jamaican Merlene Ottley.

It is expected that Marion must forfeit all medals, results, points and prizes from the Sydney games. According to international press reports, the International Association of Athletics Federation is likely to seek millions of dollars in prize money from Jones, who according to court documents is broke.
