8 days ago two men pulled off the daring broad daylight armed robbery of St. Francis Xavier Credit Union. They got off with $10,000 but this morning two burglars got much more from Belize Casino. At four am two masked men broke into the casino through a glass door - and three minutes later they were outside with $59,930 in Belize and U.S. currency.
How did they work so quickly? Well police believe they may have had inside help. First, they turned off the lights so that the surveillance camera wouldn't pick up anything, and second, one of the cameras showed signs of having been tampered with. An unarmed security guard was on duty, but he went to a nearby hotel to call for help. The casino had closed at 2:00 am.
No suspects have been detained. Likewise, no arrests have been made in last week's armed robbery.
