Investigators say he was the mastermind if not the triggerman behind a double murder in Orange Walk Town last week Wednesday night, and now Luis Cardenas has turned himself into police. Cardenas who is known to be from the Conch Shell Bay area was Orange Walk’s most wanted. But though he is being investigated for the murders of Jose Ricalde and Nazim Romero, he has not been charged for those killing – at least yet.
Instead, he has been charged for robbery and the attempted murder of Alfredo Urbina on February 5th. Urbina is alleged to be his underworld rival and police say Cardenas shot him as retaliation for the disappearance of a Cardenas associate, Alden Hall.
However, police are still gathering evidence to try and link Cardenas to the double murder of Ricalde and Romero who were killed at Urbina’s house last week Wednesday night. For the meantime though, he has been held on the other charges.
