On Friday Justice Samuel Awich threw out Chester Williams’ application for judicial review of his suspension from the Police Department. We reported that it was because Williams appeared without counsel, but it seems what caused the case to collapse was the omission of a critical submission from the case file.

The judge concluded that it had not been made within the allotted time, but it turned that it was, just that the document had gone missing from the file. You might call it poetic justice for Chester Williams, but his attorney considered it no justice at all and we have confirmed that Williams has lodged another application for judicial review.

It will be heard on Friday morning at 9:30, May 23rd in Justice Samuel Awich’s courtroom. Williams says his suspension with half pay from the Police Department is illegal. He was suspended in March.
