Reports to 7NEWS are that the man who police say threw the grenade into a group of men in the Mayflower Street area on Sunday night turned himself into the CYDP office this morning. We cannot release his name at this time, but he was transferred to the CIB office, where he is detained for questioning. It is too early to say if charges will be forthcoming. Police would only describe him as a person of interest who has only been linked to the crime by hearsay.

We do know that he is affiliated with the St. Martin’s crew that came under fire from the Ghost Town Crips on Saturday night. The Ghost Town crew is based in Bailar. Sunday night’s grenade blast was believed to have been retaliation for that shooting, where a home was shot multiple times. That home, reportedly belongs to the mother of one of the principal players in the Martin’s crew.

The officer in charge of Eastern Division Allan Whylie says that they are expecting that there will be another round of retalliation between the two warring factions. One teenager, Darren Trapp was killed in the grenade explosion and 11 other persons were injured.
