It made news on October 29th of 2007 when Ricky Valencia was charged for robbing a James Bus driver at gunpoint. The driver 55 year old Seaford Dawson said that around 7:15 on the night of the robbery - he was inside the parked bus when two men approached him. One man beat him in the head with butt of a gun and the other grabbed the moneybag and fled. The case went to trial yesterday and today Valencia told us he is clear of charges. But Valencia still isn’t happy. Today he told us that he wants his name cleared.
Ricky Valencia, Acquitted
“Well the reason I am not happy is the first time they put my name bad wrongfully. So I just want to clear it up so the society can see that it is not like how they usually paint it.”
Keith Swift,
So you’re innocent?
Ricky Valencia,
“Innocent and I prove it.”
Keith Swift,
You’re saying this is not the first time this has happened to you?
Ricky Valencia,
“It is not the first time. It has happened more than one time and every time it is the same thing and the case doesn’t even go to a trial. Before it reaches trial it gets dashed out but people don’t see that at the end of the day – they just see that they accused me of doing it and so it is me - and at the end of the day nothing happens.”
Keith Swift,
Why do you think they keep arresting you and charging you for these things?
Ricky Valencia,
“Well I don’t really know why but the man just classed me as somebody who is doing this and that once they charge you for something the first time, they will always come and charge you for something and that is no so. I just want them to know that it is not that the man didn’t want to testify, it is just that the man knows to his hurt that it wasn’t me that robbed him.”
Valencia was charged for a murder in 2003 and a robbery in 2004 and beat both charges.
