Today the City Council was at it again, paving Logwood Street which is one of the worse in the city and Teacher’s Street – which is in the West Landivar area. It’s part of a continuing partnership between City Hall and the Ministry of Works. And heading into municipal election next year, councillor in charge of streets Anthony Michael told us the programme will expand.

Anthony Michael, Deputy Mayor
“Within the next couple of months, lot more streets will be paved. Teacher’s Street here along with Logwood Street is only part of that commitment. We will also be upgrading and paving Neal’s Penn Road and Jane Usher Boulevard.”

Jules Vasquez,
At a certain point it becomes your job, for example we did Blue Marlin Drive and now this is Teacher’s Street. I can’t pat you on your back every time I see you doing your job. You understand what I am saying, are you all being self-congratulating, are you all trying to electioneer off basically doing your job?

Anthony Michael,
“Absolutely not Jules and I must thank you from your station coming out and giving a coverage like this. A coverage like this Jules is important not to politicians but to the voters and residents of Belize City. A lot of people, probably on different parts of Belize City, are not having their streets being paved at this time but by seeing a street paved today and weeks that are coming up, they felt good that their tax money is at work.”

No private contract is granted as the works are done by the City Council with assistance from the Ministry of Works.
