Two policemen are on the wrong side of the law tonight, accused of brutalizing a suspect. The allegations were made by Rhold Henry – a taxi driver from Dangriga.

As we told you last week, Henry had an altercation with off duty police constable Keith Cruz on Friday May 16th. The argument escalated and that’s when Henry admits pulling out a knife. But he claims Constable Cruz took his knife and stabbed him in the thigh. But it didn’t end there because Henry says later that night while sleeping in a bed at the Southern Regional Hospital under police guard, the off duty constable returned. He was allegedly joined by other on-duty officers who went into the ward, handcuffed his hand to the bed, and beat him with the butt of a shotgun. And on top of all that, when he was released from the hospital last Tuesday, he was charged for aggravated assault, insulting words, and threat of death.

But it didn’t end there. Henry retained human rights attorney Antonette Moore who filed a complaint with the Police Internal Affairs office. Tonight we can report that has led to the arrest of Constable Keith Cruz, who has been criminally charged for wounding, aggravated assault, and harm. Sergeant Reymundo Reyes faces disciplinary charges for neglect of duty and has been placed on interdiction.
