Another teenager has been remanded to Hattieville Prison on an attempted murder charge. Nineteen year old Winfield Dennison is believed to be the man who shot a fourteen year old in the head very early on Saturday morning. We’re not sure what the young boy was doing out at minutes past midnight, but he says he was alone near a bridge on Vernon Street just looking into the canal when someone touched him on the right shoulder and called him by his first name.

When he spun around, that’s when he recognized a man he knows as Winfield Dennison better known as “Cu–Cu.” The minor told police that Dennison was standing two feet away from him and pointing a gun in his face. He dodged instinctively and as soon as he did he heard a bang, and then felt a burning sensation and saw blood flowing down the side of his face. But he had only been grazed and he ran up Vernon Street towards the Bel-China Bridge where he met a man who rushed him to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. He’s still there recovering from his gunshot injury.

Winfield Dennison was apprehended later that day. Today he was arraigned on one count each of attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm. This morning he appeared before Chief Magistrate Margaret Gabb McKenzie. He was denied bail, remanded to prison and is scheduled to reappear in court on September nineteenth.
