Last night we told you that Chester Williams had been demoted, the decision of a disciplinary tribunal, the Security Services Commission. That decision was confirmed to us by the commission chair, Rodney Neal. But today Chester Williams’s attorney Ellis Arnold told us that he was surprised to hear the news because they haven’t been told anything and in fact, the first they heard of any decision was what we broadcast on the news last night.
Arnold confirmed that the hearing was held on Thursday, and that he and co-counsel Edwin Flowers are awaiting a decision in writing. If it is that Williams was found guilty and demoted as we have reported, then they will appeal to the Belize Advisory Council.
As for Williams’s re-instatement to active duty as a superintendent, that decision will most likely be made after Commissioner Gerald Westby returns from vacation.
