It was never posted in the daily police press release but we understand that two weeks ago a Police Constable who was on interdiction from his post at the Belmopan headquarters is in more trouble tonight. Unconfirmed reports to 7News are that PC Eduardo Coye allegedly received two hundred dollars from a prisoner. That incident led to his interdiction pending the outcome of an investigation.
But instead of cooling his heels it seems like PC Eduardo Coye had no intention to stay out of trouble. On June fourteenth he reportedly visited the Las Vegas Casino in Corozal Free Zone where he approached a female employee with a letter in hand in which he was asking for financial donations on behalf of the Chapel School for an upcoming trip. PC Coye was told to return the following day but when he did not show up, they contacted the Chapel School and asked them what happened.
The casino was told that the letter was not genuine and they contacted the police. When PC Eduardo Coye eventually returned to the Las Vegas Casino an employee immediately notified Corozal Police who responded and caught the PC in the act.
Police constable Eduardo Coye was immediately arrested and charged with the attempted to obtain property deception. He was granted bail and is presently awaiting his next court appearance.
