On Saturday morning Sandhill police detained Bridget Cox in connection with their investigation into an argument between her and another woman on Friday night. The quarrel was over a biting dog and death threats were hurled between the women. Bridget she feels she did nothing wrong but that isn’t why she is upset. Cox today told us that when police came for her at 9 on Saturday morning - they dragged her out of her home and left her four children home alone. The oldest of her children is a 5 year old boy and the youngest a 6 month old girl who were home alone for two hours on Saturday morning. Bridget says she wants justice.

“Saturday morning the police came and picked me up. I told him I didn’t have anyone to mine my kids and he told me he doesn’t care. He told me to get dress and let’s go. I got dressed and I left my five year old son in the house Jamal, Courtney 3, Adrina 2, and the baby Jasmine 6 months. I need justice for this. When I was in Ladyville I had my phone in my pocket and my sister called and told me Bridget your kids are just walking across to my house; Jamal, Courtney, and Adrina.”

“Where was the baby?”

“They left the baby in the bedroom all alone in the house with no
adults, nothing, just them.”
Ryan Cox, Charged by Police
“I think that is big chance brother because as an officer, as a big man, he shouldn’t have done it so I seek further justice into this thing. My kids could have gotten killed when they went out on that road. They could have gotten killed by a truck or any vehicle that passed. They didn’t belong in a house by themselves and so I need further justice.”
Bridget’s husband Ryan Cox wasn’t home to take care of the kids while she was detained by police because he too was detained on Saturday and later charged with aggravated assault for a separate incident. He told us that he went to Sandhill Police Station to check on his wife and that is when he was detained and became a victim of police brutality.

“I had problems with another guy and this guy and the officer are like two five and he arrested me and when he caught me at the station he started to hit me in my stomach with his hands. When he got through he used his gun and pat in my chest about six times which caused me to fall on the ground. I got up and he whapped me, leaving me dizzy, real dizzy. I couldn’t see nothing. He got the broom and then whapped me up on my feet and hauled me in the cell and locked me down for the night and I need further justice for this thing because that is chance for a police so I seek further justice.”

“When you were detained did you know your wife was detained also?”
Ryan Cox,
“That’s right and that is why I went to the station myself, I didn’t make them come look for me. I went to the station. She was already picked up when I got picked up afterwards.”
Ryan Cox was charged and released on bail yesterday. They have lodged complaints with the Police Internal Affairs.
