And the weekend’s fourth shooting incident near Pratt's Fry Chicken has left well known street figure Herman Lanza in a critical condition in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Lanza has been convicted 13 times and has spent 12 years in jail dating to 1985. And so he is no stranger to us here at 7News but when he spoke to Jules Vasquez on August 4th of 2009 – he said that he had put that life behind him.

I am not into violence and those things but right now they have people in society who want to kill me…Well I could tell anyone of them in society that if they come to kill me, they have to kill me by the grace of the good Lord in Jesus Christ’s name because I dah wah man who nuh fear no bwoy out here right now. I don’t live in fear. Anytime you want to kill me, I will be by myself on my bike and my ride dah all black right now.”

“Lanza was out there socializing with some friends when a lone gunman attacked him, several shots, one hit him in the neck and the other somewhere to the upper body. Lanza was transported to the KHMH where he is listed in a critical but stable condition.”
Police are investigating the shooting.
