Accused killer 19 year old Pedro Cal walked out of court a free man today after the prosecutor entered a nolle pros.
Cal was charged for the murder of 22 year old Dison Ezer Diaz which occurred in San Pedro in February of 2007. But the DPP’s office was unable to locate 7 witnesses, including the deceased’s own father. Two witnesses testified last week – including Ricky Herrera who says he saw Cal stab Diaz in his abdomen with a chisel. But today Crown Counsel Yohhahaseh Cave told the court she was withdrawing the murder charge.
Cal was only 17 when he was charged for the murder. The murder was reportedly triggered by an argument during which Diaz allegedly punched Cal in the chest. Cal was represented by Lionel Welch.
