Eighteen year old Ibrahim Smith who was charged with manslaughter in the fatal shooting of 17 year old Shenellie Reyes, was hauled into court again today, to answer to more criminal mischief. Smith pleaded guilty to theft and wounding today in the # 8 Magistrate court. Magistrate Emmerson Banner fined Smith $1,500.00 for theft and $500.00 for wounding laborer, Juan Martinez. He gave Smith until March 15th to pay or in default 20 months imprisonment. Smith was also charged with conspiracy to commit theft, but that charge was withdrawn.
The incident occurred around 11:05 A.M. on June 15, of last year. Martinez was cutting a yard on Logwood Street when two men stole his bicycle, weed eater, machete, rake, knapsack and a gallon of gasoline. Martinez said when he approached the men, one of them who he identified as Smith, chopped him on his right arm with his own machete.
Later the same day Smith was in his yard on Mopan street when Martinez pointed him out to the Police. The Police then searched Smith's residence and recovered three of the stolen items.
