DAVCO is the district association of Village Councils and tonight the Presidents are hopping mad because they say the Ministry of Local Government is stepping on their turf.

It all dates back to 2005 when the power to collect liquor license fees was given to village councils. In 2006 that was transferred to DAVCO when some money mismanagement issues arose.

Now, it's been taken out of DAVCO's hands and the ministry will collect the money. DAVCO says it alone should make those collections and issued a release today to say they'll fight to keep it that way.

But coordinator of rural development Ernest Banner says the DAVCO's are abusing the funds by charging the villages 5 and 10% collection fees. He says the ministry informed DAVCO form last year that things would change and now it's going into effect. We'll see where this one goes….
