Now, as we told you last night, process serving is what the police do to carry out lawful judgements from the court - and they do so on behalf of banks, law firms, loan sharks, pawn shops and other establishments who are tying to settle a debt.

To our knowledge, the police are privately paid to carry out this service, but Ferrufino said it is a public duty:…

Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino - CIB
"They are warrants that are subsequently taken out after judgement has been made in regards of cases and these officers get those warrants from the courts and they execute them. They are more so mandatory that they execute these warrants. They are not paid for it, it is part of their duty, it is part of their duty as officers working in the courts."

Jules Vasquez
"Since then it is some kind of public responsibility, will they use a police mobile? Because the allegation is that Ms. Ferguson was taken on a bus."

Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino
"The circumstances... the case is being looked at. We're not going into any details with regards to that."

We’ll wait and see what comes out of the investigation into why they used a city bus to take Ferguson from school. Ferguson’s family has retained an attorney to sue the police.
