Orange Walk resident old John Triminio was killed when his motorbike ran off the road. Police told us more:..
ACP Joseph Myvette- Head of NCIB
"On yesterday's date, shortly before 9 pm, Orange Walk police were called to the Northern Regional Hospital where they observed a Hispanic male with head and body injuries who was being attended to. His name was named to be John Triminio, 54 years of a Boundary Road address in Orange Walk Town. Our investigation has shown that the deceased was a long with another male person, both travelling on separate motorcycles from the direction of Corozal towards Orange Walk. When reaching between miles 71 and 72 on the Phillip Goldson Highway, he apparently lost control of the motorcycle which caused his head and body injuries."

"Has it yet been ascertained from the deceased's colleague if they were socializing prior to their travel from Corozal to Orange Walk."
ACP Joseph Myvette
"Yes, that is what the police learnt, that yes they were socializing. I cannot say at this point in time whether or not alcohol was a factor though."
Jules Vasquez- Reporter
"Is it reaching a point with these motorbike accidents where the police department has to start to put out special advisories or some type of special enforcement because of the number of fatalities we have seen, certainly in the past two years, relating to motorbikes. We know that motorbikes are becoming cheaper and more widely available."

ACP Jospeh Myvette
"Many of us who travel the roads at night would see the number of motorcycles on the highways. Some are not properly lit, and much care is not exercised by these motorcycle drivers, hence putting other drivers in danger. So, yes, it is a serious concern and we are taking steps by implementing additional patrols."
