Last week we told you how Wesley Lower School - right down the street from us - had been burglarized for the second time in just a few weeks. It's been very frustrating for the school - and their area representative - who is their neighbor came to their rescue today with a new security system:

Shirley Saldano, Principal, Wesley Primary School

"You know, it's so depressing, it's so overwhelming where I am because here we are trying to fight to make sure that we have all the necessary things that we need to service our children and for these thieves to come and just set us back, it's like moving one step forward and going back another two or three steps backward. Then last Thursday the office again got it and I didn't know I can feel that way and so in the evening I went to class with her and I sat with her and she said, Miss I am going to help you and she came this morning and she told me that she received a cheque for us. It made my day."

Tracey Panton, Area Representative, Albert Division

"When we heard of the most recent break-in we thought we'd reach out to our friends in the business community to assist us to complete the project and as you know, Tropicana Casino responded very readily and gave us a contribution of twenty-five hundred dollars towards the security system for the school."

"When are you going to install the cameras?"

Shirley Saldano
"To be real, tomorrow morning. Its like we needed it from last year. I would hope that these young me who are out there targeting our schools would try to stop and think about their children, because you know what, they have children coming to this school as well and they are not making it any better for us. They are just putting us backward."

As you heard, the new system goes into place tomorrow.
