Belize City Police have charged another man for allegedly being a member of the a criminal gang.

He's 22 year-old Tony Mcdonald, a fisherman of Reggae Street, and police say that he is a member of the Southside Gangsters. He was arraigned today before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford, and he pleaded not guilty to the charge. Senior Magistrate Ford explained to him that she cannot offer him bail because of the nature of the offence, and she then remanded him until July 4.

The Police reported that they arrested and charged McDonald on July 22, after several months of investigation which revealed that McDonald was a member of SSG, a gang based in the Port Loyola area.

The police said they also saw that McDonald has an account on Facebook that showed him displaying gang graffitti.

So far, since the police operation aimed at discouraging gang membership, they have arrested, charged and convicted alleged members of Bacaland Crips, PIV, Rocky Road Bloods and George Street Bloods.
