42 year old Kenneth "Big Tom" Flowers, appeared in court today, facing a charge that every rarely if ever comes to court, "procuring defilement of a person by threat."
It stems from the circulation of a cell phone recording which allegedly shows him verbally abusing and commanding a woman to perform oral sex acts on a male.
The commissioner of police himself called it disgusting and launched an investigation into the matter.
But, before they could come up with the charge, on September third, police detained "Big Tom" under the Southside State of Emergency.
Now that the Southside SOE is expired, Flowers was taken to court today on that single charge of procuring defilement of a person by threat.
In court, behalf before the charge was read to him, FLOWERS expressed that his constitutional rights had been violated. He explained that he has been remanded from September 3, 2020, which is 1 month four days since for the matter and that he should have been brought to court long before for arraignment.
Senior Magistrate, Ford explained to him that he needed to take up the matter in his constitutional claim with his attorney at the Supreme Court.
He further explained that since he was detained under the SOE he has been mistreated because the victim in the case against him has indicated to police that she does not want any court action against him.
With that, Senior Magistrate Ford explained to Flowers that due to the nature of the offense, no plea will be taken from him. He was denied bail in the first instant and remanded back into custody at the Belize Central Prison until December 3, 2020.
