A Corozal man was found floating in the sea on Sunday morning. According to ACP Joseph Myvett, this incident is not being classified as a murder because there were no visible injuries on the body. His family now awaits the results of a post mortem.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

"Yesterday morning, Corozal police were called to the sea side where they observed the body of a male person that was floating in the sea and he was removed. There was no sign of violence observed on the body and he was later identified as Dudley Nugent of a Corozal Town address. At this point in time based on the fact that there were no injuries, officers are suspecting that it may have been a drowning and also I believe that the postmortem should be taking place sometime midday today in relation to that."

"Have officers picked him up the day before? That's what we had heard."

ACP Joseph Myvett
"I am not aware of that, but I know that he is known to the police and he has been in and out of police custody for some time."

Nugent has a long history of run-in's with the law.
